Greens
The greens are constructed using the modified USGA specifications. The greens surface is Dominant plus creeping bent grass. This bent grass was chosen due to characteristics that make it desirable in the climate of the Rocky Mountain West including: Early spring green up, Resistance to Poa annua encroachment, Tolerance of short mowing heights for faster green speeds, Resistance to snow mold and cold weather tolerance.

Tees
The tees have been constructed on the same sand and peat moss used as the base for the greens to provide a firm, dry surface in all conditions. The same grass used on the putting surface has been utilized on the tees.

Fairways
The fairways were constructed using the rich native topsoil found on the Ranch and the grass is a five-way blend of Kentucky bluegrass. Kentucky bluegrass is the grass of choice for golf courses in high mountain climates due to its resistance to winterkill and recovery from snow mold.

Native Grasses
The Native areas are considered to be reclamation of the native grasses that were present in the area before grazing and agricultural activities altered the grasses. These native grasses consist of Western Wheat, Indian Rice grass, Sandberg Bluegrass, Wild rye and Idaho Rough and Sheep Fescue. These native grasses provide the bulk of the "landscaping" for the golf course. Part of the design philosophy was to not "force" the golf course into this environment, but rather to incorporate it into the landscape so that it blends with the surroundings.
